The SRLAN currently consists of 33 member organisations, based in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and invites new members in the refugee legal aid sector from around the world to join. The SRLAN Charter (2007) outlines the SRLAN’s objectives and membership requirements; while the SRLAN Bylaws aim to refine and implement the principles, vision and mission established in Nairobi and memorialised in the 2007 Charter.

To apply to become a member, please read the Nairobi Code of Ethics and SRLAN Bylaws before filling out and submitting the below membership form.  Alternatively, applicants can submit the SRLAN membership form to the Secretariat via email, if they prefer.  Membership is free of charge.  At this time, only independent organisations can apply to become members.

*Full members will be allowed to vote on matters relating to the leadership and running of the SRLAN (i.e. Steering Committee members), and their names will be published on the SRLAN website and other SRLAN literature. Associate members’ names will not be publicly revealed, and associate members cannot vote on SRLAN matters.

“I have read and understood the Nairobi Code of Ethics and the Southern Refugee Legal Aid Network Charter. I undertake that my organisation will be governed by the Nairobi Code in addition to any otherwise applicable code of legal ethics as well as the principles and aims of SRLAN. I also commit to the responsibilities of SRLAN membership as specified in the SRLAN Bylaws. The information provided in this application is accurate to the best of my knowledge.”
